Hybrid Homeschool Learning is Your True Choice in Education

Updated: Apr 21

Do you value choice? Do you value the liberty to manage your household? After all, your household, including your children, are part of your kingdom - your custom-sized sovereign state - complete with its own territory, borders culture and government.

It is the job of the institutions, businesses, churches and communities surrounding us to support our personal home-kingdoms. One size does not necessarily fit each family. And the commanders-in-chief of the household should have enough choice to make the best decisions for their families.

Ironically, in the free market or private sector economy, there is choice everywhere. The United States is blessed enough, with our market economy, to have virtually limitless choice. For instance, the grocery store carries 15 different types of bread. However, choice in education is much more limited. Unfortunately, in some instances, it might be non-existent.

And now, hybrid homeschool education is here. It provides the precise choice needed to fill the gap of traditional classroom education and tradition home-based education.

Hybrid education is aptly named as it provides the perfect middle ground for families searching for true choice in education. This is more than just which classroom families will place their children in. This is more than learning at the kitchen table.

Hybrid education is home-based. Children are home the majority of the week. They are learning from their true influencers - mom and dad. Parents are directing educational studies and doing the majority of the teaching. And it is all being done with the flexibility and creativity of homeschooling. Do school from anywhere, anytime that is appropriate for each family.

Children also attend regularly-scheduled classes, creating a consistent school routine outside the home. Children are able to learn from other students, other teachers and other perspectives. Children learn in a classroom environment, complete with classroom manipulatives, decorations, desks and morning calendar time.

Structured class time could also include scheduled field trips, volunteer work and student clubs. Extracurricular activities create more space to cultivate deep, personal friendships.

In balance, is co-teaching. Classroom instructors and parents co-teach. This could involve recommended lesson plans, curriculum, resource support, open office hours and more. All adults involved in educating young people work together.

In sum, captains and leaders of every household value choice. And the biggest decisions should have the most choice. Your child's education has more impact than which loaf of bread is chosen at the supermarket. And parents now have the widest array of true educational choice. Choose hybrid.
